Human Trafficking and Slavery in the U.S
From 6800 B.C to present day, people still decide to do dangerous and reckless things to just to have a slave to work for them for free. Human trafficking, the illegal movement of humans, based for the purposes of forced labor or commercial sexual exploits. People do this everyday and each slave is sold about $90 each. Between 14,500 to 17,500 humans are trafficked into the U.S each year. The quote in the picture “Modern Slavery is closer than you think.” represents something, but what does it represent? What the text means when saying ”…….is closer than you think.” is slavery can happen next door to you, or slavery can happen to you at anytime or any day. What the colors of the text mean is back then in the U.S whites thought they were more superior than whites so now in modern day slavery, most likely blacks are there target for slaves today. Remember back then when there was string puppets? This picture represents that the person with the hand controlling the puppet is the slave holder, while the puppet is the slave that doesn’t have any freedom whatsoever. What the quote and the picture represent together is that today people might be controlling a slave next door and you have no clue.
According to SFGate Modern day slaves are usually people who are paying off their debt/gratitude to whoever helped them immigrate to the U.S.A and sometimes you can just fall into slavery from just a innocent job application or job and maybe a place you work for has slavery happening and maybe even the house next door might have slaves or even a company you know . Also modern day slaves are almost in all of the states in the U.S from florida , ohio ,and california , and etc. . Another thing most of the time slaves are afraid to go tell someone about their conditions due to some type of danger that may go to them or their loved ones so they continue to deal with the work they are forced to do and sometimes slaves just break free and rush to the authorities and tell them about their conditions and they get the help they need to get out of their situation but they end up having to go back to the country they may have come from or they remain where they are if they are a legal U.S citizen. But in general slaves could be doing anything and they could be anywhere within the U.S because around the average 12 to 27 million people are enslaved each year around the world.
